This is where I explore ideas, cultivate belonging, and inspire action that strengthens people, faith institutions, and communities. Rooted in the conviction that we are all image bearers of God and that value is a birthright, I bring together faith, leadership, and community to bridge across differences in pursuit of the common good.
Whether through preaching, speaking, convening, or The Bridge Across, my hope is the same: to help people discover what is possible when we choose connection over division and collaboration over isolation.
ABOUT PAT
I was formed by my experiences, shaped for my calling, and nurtured by my grandfather.
Ministry, corporate leadership, community organizing, policy and advocacy, regional listening sessions, and the Radical Belonging Fellowship were not separate stories. Together, they shaped who Pat Parker is now and prepared me to meet the call of this moment.
From my grandfather, I inherited perseverance, a high-level view, the principles of diversity and inclusion, and the conviction that the people closest to a problem should lead in its solution. I learned to bring the best of myself as an offering to the common good.
I believe I am stewarding a vision entrusted to me long ago, refined through every season of my life, and now expressed through The Value Series Ministries and The Bridge Across.

A Theology of Value
At the heart of The Value Series Ministries is a simple, yet transformative conviction: value is a birthright.
We believe value is not something to be earned, achieved, accumulated, or bestowed by another person or institution. It is neither increased by success nor diminished by failure. It is not determined by race, gender, education, economic status, or political affiliation.
Our value was bestowed by God.
Because every human being is created in the image and likeness of God, every human being possesses inherent value. Before we accomplish anything, before we believe anything, before anyone recognizes us or overlooks us, we are image bearers. That identity is God’s gift to humanity and cannot be taken away.
This understanding shapes how we see people, how we lead, how we build relationships, and how we engage the communities where God has planted us.
Everyone has something of value to bring to the table. It simply depends on what they choose to bring. Because we are all image bearers of God, we are called to see, hear, and acknowledge one another. Bridging across difference does not require affirmation or agreement; it does require acknowledgement and respect.
Diversity is not a problem to solve, but a gift to steward. We need one another because none of us carries the fullness of God’s gifts alone. Communities flourish when people bring the best of who they are as an offering to the common good rather than attempting to assimilate into sameness.
This is the theological foundation from which The Value Series Ministries serves. It is also the foundation upon which The Bridge Across was built.
THE BRIDGE ACROSS
The Bridge Across did not begin with an idea. It began with an inheritance.
Bridging Across Difference. Strengthening Communities.
We are living in a time when division too often keeps people, institutions, and communities from recognizing what they share and what they might accomplish together.
Yet the people, relationships, institutions, knowledge, space, and resources needed to address many of our communities’ challenges are often already there. They simply are not always connected.
The Bridge Across is a stakeholder activation initiative of The Value Series Ministries that brings faith institutions and communities together to bridge across difference, activate existing assets, and pursue shared solutions for the common good.
WHY FAITH INSTITUTIONS?
Faith institutions are uniquely positioned to become trusted bridges within the communities where they are planted. They often possess something increasingly difficult to build from scratch: history, relationships, physical space, leadership, volunteers, community knowledge, and the ability to convene.
At the same time, communities change. A congregation may know exactly who it is while becoming increasingly disconnected from the people who now live, work, learn, build businesses, and raise families around it.
The answer is not for faith institutions to abandon who they are or assimilate into the communities around them. It is relationship.
The Bridge Across helps activate the potential of faith institutions to become the bridge by which communities cross toward greater understanding, stronger relationships, and shared solutions. That begins by helping faith institutions reintroduce themselves to their communities—not primarily as places seeking new members, but as solutions-based partners and accessible community resources.
THE COMMUNITY BRINGS SOMETHING TOO
The Bridge Across does not approach communities as problems waiting to be solved. Communities already possess assets.
Residents bring lived experience and knowledge. Community organizations bring relationships and expertise. Businesses bring resources and economic capacity. Schools and educators bring knowledge and connection to families. Civic leaders bring access to public systems. Faith institutions bring their own assets to the table.
Everyone has something of value to bring to the table. It simply depends on what they choose to bring.
Our work is to help identify those assets, connect the people who hold them, and create opportunities for stakeholders to put them to work around priorities they share.
HOW THE BRIDGE WORKS
ASSESS
We begin by listening. Together, we identify community assets, stakeholders, needs, priorities, gaps, and opportunities. We seek to understand not only what a community needs, but what is already present that can contribute to solutions.
CONNECT
We build relationships between the faith institution and the people, organizations, businesses, schools, civic leaders, other faith institutions, and stakeholders around it.
BRIDGE
Difference does not disappear when people come to the table. Nor should it. Bridging across difference does not require affirmation or agreement; it does require acknowledgement and respect.
The Bridge Across helps create pathways for people and institutions to work across those differences, identify areas of shared concern, and move toward collaborative solutions and collective action.
ACTIVATE
We convene stakeholders around shared priorities. Rather than assuming another program must be created, we ask what can happen when existing people, knowledge, relationships, space, influence, and resources are connected and activated toward a shared concern.
WHAT ARE WE WORKING TOWARD?
Community flourishing.
We envision faith institutions that are known, accessible, trusted, and engaged in the communities where they are planted.
We envision communities in which residents and institutions know one another, recognize their shared assets, and have established relationships that can be activated when challenges or opportunities arise.
And we envision people who may disagree deeply in some areas discovering that there are still places where they can cross toward one another and accomplish something that matters.
We do not have to agree on everything to work together on something.
That is the possibility of The Bridge Across.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
The Bridge Across is moving from formation into demonstration. Over the past several months, Rev. L. Patricia Parker has been introducing the framework in conversations with faith and community leaders across denominations and communities.
At the same time, we are listening. We are meeting with faith leaders, community organizations, civic partners, and other stakeholders to learn from existing work, identify opportunities for collaboration, and further develop a model that complements rather than duplicates the important work already underway in Southern California.
There is room at the table. And everyone has something to bring.

The Bridge Across is seeking relationships with faith institutions, community organizations, civic leaders, businesses, philanthropy, and other partners who believe stronger communities are possible when we identify what is already present, bring people together across differences, and put our collective assets to work.
